How You Can Help FOM at Wilson

FOM needs the support of parents, teachers, staff, and the community to make the Wilson environment as close to a true Montessori environment as possible. HISD does not pay for any of the Montessori materials - we must create them ourselves or raise money to purchase them and WE NEED YOUR HELP to do that.

To raise funds for Wilson classroom Montessori materials, FOM applies for grants and holds one gala fundraiser in the spring. We always need volunteers to participate with gala planning and to serve on the grantwriting committee. Your child's teacher or room parent can help point you toward helping with materials making (laminating, cutting, sorting, copying, etc.) and other needs.

Join a Committee
To volunteer with a committee, please contact the appropriate committee director directly.

Parent Education - Wendy Freed, Director.

Materials Making - Olga Antonetti, Director
The materials committee is always in need of hands to help make classroom materials. The more we can make, the less we have to buy. Can you sew?

Fundraising - Christine Soderstrom, Director
The fundraising committee plans the annual spring gala and other events.

Grant Writing - Katherine Arbiter, Director of New Programs
This committee is exploring different funding organizations. We are seeking a combination of large and small grants to reach our goal of 1.2 million.

Communications - Mary Simione, Director
This committee creates a monthly newsletter, this web site, media announcements, flyers, writes letters, and seeks publicity for the program.

You can also help financially
You can, of course, always help FOM by making a donation. Any and all donations are accepted. If you or someone you know is involved with a foundation, corporation, or other granting organization that might be interested in this project, please let us know.
