Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction
It's time once again for our annual community-wide event that draws Garden Oaks families, neighbors, community leaders, and business leaders to enjoy free pancakes and sausage lovingly prepared by many of the dads and granddads of children in our program. The silent auction, which is held in conjunction with the pancake breakfast, has become key to enabling Garden Oaks Elementary's Montessori program to grow and thrive.
Our thanks go to those of you who have already offered to help. Our immediate need is to secure donations for the silent auction. Do you know of a business or individual that might donate something of value to support Friends of Montessori? All donations are tax-deductible as FOM is a 501(c)(3) organization. Or, are you able to place daytime calls to past and potential donors? If so, please contact Silent Auction Chair, Amye Webster at amye_webster@yahoo.com or 832.567.6908
There are many other volunteer opportunities for this event, from flipping pancakes to writing thank you letters, to everything in between. Please sign up in your child's classroom, or contact Rick Knauth at rick.knauth@nsgen.com or 713.580.6341.
Thanks you in advance for helping us make this a successful and meaning event.
The Garden Oaks Chapter of the Friends of Montessori hosts the Annual Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction on the first Saturday of February, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This major fundraising event is key to meeting our annual financial objectives. Monies raised go to support and maintain the essential elements of our Montessori program, including classroom materials, and professional development.
This community-wide event draws neighbors, Garden Oaks families, community leaders, and business leaders to enjoy free pancakes and sausage lovingly prepared by many of the dads of children in our program. We also have many fun activities for the children, including dancing, singing, and hands-on arts and crafts. You may also scoop up some sweet deals at our famous Silent Auction. The combination of a delicious breakfast, family fun, and great deals at the Silent Auction has historically made this Pancake Breakfast a big hit with large turnouts every year.
For those who are interested in learning more about the Garden Oaks Elementary Montessori program, a parent orientation is held on the morning of the breakfast. Attendance at one of our orientations is required for those entering the program. The parent orientation covers the Montessori methodology and the role of families in the Friends of Montessori program and is open to all parents that do not have a child in the program.
Events such as this are coordinated through the efforts of many volunteers. From letter writing, procuring auction items, flipping pancakes, and translating and distributing flyers, it takes a lot of people to make all of these efforts a success!
If you would like to volunteer to be on a committee, or just lend a helping hand, please contact Elizabeth Klein at 713-320-7294 or email her at friendsofmontessori@yahoo.com.
